Kinetic Parade
Winners of Ebb & Flow
Arts Council Santa Cruz County partnered with several businesses (including Radius Gallery) to execute Ebb & Flow. The initiative included a celebration with live music and performances, River Tours, a Kinetic Parade, 10 temporary public art pieces, and 1 permanent sculpture now located at the Tannery Arts Center.
Dozens of kinetic sculptures flowed down the Riverwalk, pausing at each access point to unveil the temporary art installations. Participants were all ages and prizes were awarded in the follow categories:
Wild Spawn (Best River / Critter / Water Theme) - Swallows by Johanna Atkinson, Samantha Atkinson, Mary Atkinson, and Max Sanderson
Generation Z (Best Youth Design & Built) - Pisces by Julia Stuart and Ursula Nelson of Mission Hill Elementary
You Spin Me Round (Most Kinetic) - Guardian by Luke Wilson
Pageantry (People’s Choice / Crowd Favorite) - Fish Bike by Lee Myers
Cruz Control (Best in Show) - Larry the Lamprey by Patrick Stafford & Cabrillo College Art Department and Extension
